Sartyoon Sang Crafts Festival (January 2014)


SRSO with the support of different partners and sponsors organized the “Sartyoon Sang Crafts Festival” from January 24 to 26, 2014 in Karachi’s high end market the Ocean Mall. Ms. Sharmila Farooqi, special assistant on culture to Sindh CM inaugurated the 3-day event. The exhibition brought a variety of traditional arts and crafts to Karachi. These colorful and captivating products are the work of hundreds of rural women from different remote villages of Kashmore/Kandhkot; Shikarpur; Ghotki; Jacobabad; Khairpur and Sukkur. A wide mixture of Sindh’s handicrafts including home textiles (made up of the intricate patch work, cut work and embroidery); basketry; jewelry; dresses, dupattas, shawls embellished with traditional embroidery and cutwork were exhibited.

 


Cross Breed Heifers Distrubution in Jacobabad


SRSO Jacobabad Office distrubuted 55 cross breed heifers among ultra poor women of district Jacobabad in the month of August 2014. This is a special Initiative for poor rural women as asset building measure leading to sustained income in future and with a focused to promote Livestock and dairy sector on the basis of cooperative business model. The beneficiaries received these heifers under the " Union Council Based Poverty Reduction Programme" funded by the Government of Sindh.

 


Sartyoon Sang Crafts Enterprise in Date Festival Khairpur 2014


Sartyoon Sang Crafts Enterprise participated in 6th Date Festival held in Sachal Auditorium Khairpur on 23 and 24th August 2014. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah inaugurated the Khairpur Date Festival on Saturday evening. MNA Ms. Nafisa Shah was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony of the Festival on Sunday. She appreciated very much the efforts of SRSO and Sartyoon Sang Crafts for the promotion of Products made from Leaves of Date palm including floor mats, bags and decoration pieces were also put on display in the show. Commissioner Sukkur Muhammad Abbas Baloch, Deputy Commissioner Khairpur Munawar Mithiani, PPP leader Nazar Muhammad Gaho and others also visited the stall.

 


14 August Celebrations at Cluster School in Shikarpur


On 14th August 2014 Children of Cluster school UC Garhi Sahib Khan in Shikarpur district celebrated Independence Day of Pakistan. On the occasion Children participated in Naat Competition , Quiz Competition , Speech Competition, Patriotic Song and Tablo Competition with Zeal and Zest and win Prizes. A workbook of English was Launched which is prepared by team of Education Project SRSO. SRSO is implementing this project with the financial support of Govt. of Sindh.

 


Cross Breed Heifers Distribution in Ghotki


On 2nd February 2014, CEO SRSO Ms. Naheed Shah distributed 1800 Gersy/fresien cross breed cows among the ultra poor families of UC Khan garh, Bhetoor and Lohi under the project "Livelihood Enhancement and Protection Program II" funded by PPAF. These cross breed cows will produce more than 12 litre milk per day and this new trend of livestock farming will contribute in economic development of beneficiaries.

Sartyoon Sang Crafts Enterprise with 10 artisans of rural Sindh is participating in "Sindh Cultural Festival 2014" at Bagh Ibn-e-Qasim in Clifton Karachi. Traditional crafts display at SRSO's stall caught the attention of spectators. A mixture of Sindh's handicrafts made by rural women exhibited, including basketry, dresses, dupattas and home textiles embellished with traditional embroidery and cutwork.

 


Under the PPAF funded "Livelihood Enhancement and Protection Program II" SRSO has established a "Nokri ya Rozgar" center at Union Council Bhetoor of taluka Khangarh and district Ghotki in village Ali Ahmed siyal on 27th January 2014. The Nokri ya Rozgar center is established by Local Support Organization " Sonehri Roshni" where youngsters of UC Bhetor are registered , a separate pool of trained and untrained qualified youngsters are being registered at this center. Under NyK centers LSOs are trying to get them enrolled in any professional training institutes or get them employed in the available market.

 


SRSO with collaboration of Integrated Health System Strengthening Alliance Services (IHSAS) Implemented the component "Behavior Change Communication" and conducted a 6 Days Project Orientation Workshop of Family Focal Persons at district Larkana from 27 Jan to 1st Feb 2014.

World Animal Day Observed in Sukkur

World animal day (WAD) was celebrated under the Brooke- SRSO partnership project of Working Equine Animals on October 04, 2013 with main objectives of WAD was acknowledged the role of animals play in our lives – from being our companions, supporting and helping us, to bringing a sense of wonder into our lives.
Under this partnership SRSO provide veterinary treatment and free services for the Equine animals and arrange training on animal care and husbandry for the owners who depend on the working equine for their livelihood.
Participants suggested celebrating the day every year have to realize the animal rights amongst the owners and to ensure the implementation the rights of animals in all aspects. 50 packets of feed (barley and grams) were distributed among horses and donkeys owners to offer to their animals. On the occasion, SRSO & Brooke participants have taken part in a walk to show solidarity with the cause of Brooke-SRSO partnership Project.

 


Integrated Health System Strengthening Alliance (IHSAS) comprising of Integrated Health System (IHS) and Sindh Rural Support Organization as partner awarded joint project by Govt. of Sindh and one by UN with financial assistance of Norwegian Govenment under Norwegian Pakistan Partnership iniative (NPPI). The prime objective of this project is to ensure quality of maternal and new born child health and family planning services under pay for performance contract in two districts of Sindh, Shaheed Banezirabad and Larkana. Under IHSAS-Behavior Change Communication (BCC) component SRSO organized Health Melas, Community Theaters, 6 Days Training of Family Focals, Training of Ulamas on importance of MNCH in the light of Quran and Ahadees and orientation of Journalists and media anchors for media coverage.

 


SRSO's Crafts Enterprise Development Section participated in Six Days Asia level Exhibition organized at the Delhi Haat India from 24 to 31 August 2013 , funded by Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF). All SAARC countries exhibited handmade crafts under one roof recognized internationally and ultimately providing opportunities for export market.

 



After successful implementation of PPAF funded Livelihood Enhancement & protection project (Phase-1), the project entered into a second phase and was extended in three more Union Council for another two years by the PPAF. .

 



On Friday 31 May 2013 Gender and Development sector of the SRSO has organized Mother's day at Sachal Auditorium Khairpur with main objective to provide the opportunity to express the hearties, affections feelings and surprise gifts to the mothers. More than 200 participants including female community members participated with Zeal and Zest to increase the glory of the event.
