Launching Ceremony of Expansion of Peoples Poverty Reduction Program.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari addressed thousands of rural women during a launching ceremony of the Peoples Poverty Reduction Program (PPRP), organized by Sindh Rural Support organization in Ghotki district on September 01, 2021. Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Provincial Minister, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Nisar Ahmed Khoro, Chairperson P&DD Sindh, senior officials of various departments and other dignitaries, 4000 Women members of Community Organizations and community leaders/ CRPs across the Sindh Province and media representatives attended the launching ceremony. Sindh Rural Support Organization is executing executed Peoples’ Poverty Reduction program in 6 districts of Sindh with the financial support of the Govt. of Sindh and now extended to 2 more districts i.e.; Ghotki and Sukkur, which was appreciated by the European Union and initiated Sindh Union Council and Community Economic Strengthening Support (Success) Program in 8 districts of Sindh province in 2016. The same program was further replicated in another six districts in 2017 by the Govt. of Sindh.The Sindh government has extended financial support to the rural support programs (RSPs) for rural people to enable them to articulate their aspirations and to effectively marshal the resources they need to meet their identified needs. SRSO has economically strengthened 1.3 million families provided interest-free loans to more than 200,000 women and established 23,000 houses besides providing them opportunities for skill development.Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that the poverty alleviation program had been approved by [then prime minister] Ms. Benazir Bhutto and launched by [then Sindh chief minister] Syed Qaim Ali Shah. Now it was being extended to eight more districts. With the required funding expected to be received this program would be extended to all districts of the province.Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Mr. Bilawal Zardari said on the occasion, that the Government believed that NGOs including charity and public welfare organizations are carrying out a commendable job by looking after people at the grassroots level and in urban as well as far off rural areas of the country. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said the Sindh Government believed in serving people and he wanted to facilitate them without any discrimination. He said that the People Poverty Reduction Program would also empower women economically because flourishing a woman would change the entire living of the family. He said it was his dream to empower women, as her slain mother thought to do, saying the Sindh government has launched a program with Rs.6 billion in funding to provide 23,000 houses to the deserving women of Sindh, especially of Ghotki and Sukkur districts. He said around 1.3 million families in 15 districts of Sindh would be benefited from the Peoples’ poverty reduction program, expressing his dream place, where women could play an equal economic, political, and social role. He was happy to see how these poor rural women got organized actively and very positively responded to these programs.The guests were greatly delighted to see these organized women, inspired and appreciated their work. Ceremony of MoU Signing with Sukkur IBA University held at SRSO Complex Sukkur

SRSO signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sukkur IBA University in a formal ceremony held at the SRSO complex in Sukkur on June 21, 2021.Vice Chancellor of Sukkur IBA University Prof. Dr. Syed Mir Muhammad Shah, and Chief Executive Officer of SRSO Mr. Muhammad Dittal Kalhoro signed the MoU.The MoU will provide opportunities for faculty, researchers, students, and innovators at the Sukkur IBA University and SRSO Management to explore potential activities ranging from joint research projects, support in research, training to professional development programs, exchange of knowledge, skills, and opportunity to human resources.Guests were honored with cultural souvenirs and gifts. Visit of Deputy Country Director -Action Against Hunger Pakistan (ACF)

Deputy Country Director – Action Against Hunger Pakistan (ACF), Mr. Zulfiqar Mithani along with the team visited various interventions in district Shikarpur, Larkana, and Kamber Shahdadkot under the EU-funded Program for Improved Nutrition in Sindh (PINS).Mr. Zulfiqar witnessed PINS-II and PINS-III interventions and conducted dialogues with community leaders. regarding the impacts of the projects on their lives and livelihoods. He also visited household-level Kitchen Gardening. Agriculture entrepreneurs, Goat beneficiaries, Farmer Field Schools, CHWs, and the construction of Hand Washing stations.DCD-ACF also witnessed PCR test sample collection of suspected persons and also attended community awareness sessions where CRPs were conducting awareness sessions with rural women, on the novel coronavirus and emphasizing the importance of hygiene and safe practices for their health. Visit of Country Director- Action Against Hunger (ACF) Pakistan

Ms. Jennifer Ankrom Khan Country Director Action Against Hunger (ACF) Pakistan, along with other members; Mr. Mudassir Ahmed (Program Director PINS ER3), Ms. Anis Memon (Program Manager PINS ER2), Dr. A. Khaliq Mangnejo, Roa Ayub Khan (Senior Technical Manager Agriculture), Mr. Javed Memon (Divisional Manager ACF), visited Shikarpur, Larkana, and Kamber- Shahdadkot.Ms. Jennifer Ankrom Khan interacted with community members and Programme beneficiaries and witnessed different interventions i.e. Peddy fish farms and selling process, livestock, poultry, and agriculture entrepreneurs, and Farmer Field Schools. Appeal for Humanitarian Assistance for Over 1.5 Million Rural Communities Hit by Flood

Heavy rain and flash floods claim lives and destroy homes. The Provincial Government declared 20 districts as ‘calamity- Hit areas’. People were displaced from their houses, millions of people had been marooned, and 80 percent of standing crops on thousands of acres had been wiped out due to the flood-like conditions in various rural areas of Sindh. They also have no potable water to drink.SRSO is now accepting donations from philanthropic individuals, non-profit organizations, and corporations. Assist in the priority areas of dry ration, clean drinking water, tents, non-food items, mosquito nets, fodder for livestock, and medical supplies. Please donate generously at this time of need. Back
Delegation of Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) Visited Shikarpur & Kashmore-Kandhkot

A delegation of the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) led by the Chief Executive Officer of PPAF Qazi Azmat Esa visited Kashmore @ Kandhkot and Shikarpur districts on February 24, 2020. The delegation participated in the Productive Assets Distribution ceremonies organized in UC Rasool Bux of Kashmore @Kandhkot) and village Khabri of UC Taib in Shikarpur, districts and conducted dialogues with organized community members and beneficiaries of the BISP under the National Poverty Graduation Programme (NPGP).The CEO-PPAF distributed productive assets among 61 beneficiaries from District Kashmore and 18 beneficiaries from District Shikarpur. Productive assets are being distributed to the poor households under the Government of Pakistan’s International Fund for Agricultural Development(IFAD) funded National Poverty Graduation Programme (NPGP) managed by the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund in 23 districts of Pakistan and SRSO is one of the six implementing partner of PPAF implementing this program in Shikarpur and Kashmore Kandhkot.Mr. Qazi Azmat Esa said on the occasion that: “NPGP has been started by Govt. of Pakistan to end poverty from the poorest of poor families of Pakistan on a sustainable basis. PPAF has a strong belief in five core values i.e.; participation, partnership, transparency, accountability, and sustainability at all levels and I am very happy to see all these values are in practice by SRSO and women leaders of Community Institutions at the gross root level.” Back
Agreement Signing Ceremony Regarding Expansion of PPRP in Two New Districts, Sukkur & Ghotki

The Agreement signing ceremony regarding the expansion of the “Peoples’ Poverty Reduction Program” (PPRP) was held on 28 January 2020. It was organized between Planning and Development Department Government of Sindh and Sindh Rural Support Organization for district Ghotki and Sukkur. Mr. Shoaib Sultan Khan (Chairman of SRSO Board of Directors) Mr. Muhammad Waseem Chairman (of P&DD Board), Ms. Shireen Narejo (Secretary P&DD), Ms. Iffat Malik (PC- PMU-PPRP), Mr. Muhammad Dittal Kalhoro (CEO SRSO), Team Lead- PPRP- SRSO, and other key officials of PMU participated in the ceremony.Now SRSO is implementing the PPRP in eight districts of Sindh in order to improve the livelihood of rural communities through women’s economic empowerment. 7th Sartyoon Sang Crafts Exhibition Held in Ocean mall Karachi from 10 to 12 January 2020

Sindh Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah inaugurated the 7th Sartyoon Sang Crafts Exhibition organized by Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) in collaboration with the Sindh Government and its partners at the Ocean Mall Clifton Karachi from 10 to 12 January 2020, displaying work of around 3,545 women artisans from the different districts of Sindh with aim to provide market linkages to rural women and artisans.The Minister appreciated the endeavors of Sindh Rural Support Organizations for poor communities and expects in the future to keep such spirit for rural communities of Sindh. Speaking to the media on the occasion, he said that the Sindh government was concerned about giving skilled women of Sindh access to the international market through e-commerce. Various steps have been taken to empower women.Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of SRSO, Muhammad Dittal Kalhoro said that the event’s objective was to facilitate better incomes for women artisans of rural Sindh. “We have trained more than 15,000 women from some of the most underdeveloped regions of Jacobabad, Kandhkot-Kashmore, Shikarpur, Ghotki, Kambar-Shahdadkot, Khairpur, and Sukkur to help these women gain maximum monetary benefit from their skills, they have incorporated urban trends into their work.Besides citizens, some foreign guests visited the festival and took a keen interest in handmade home products, Apparel, furniture, decorating pieces, pure leather handbags, bedsheets, basketry, and other cultural items. MOU Signing with The Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tando Jam

The Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tando Jam and Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) on Monday 7th October 2019, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to “Increasing Productivity and Profitability of Pulse Production in Cereal based Cropping Systems in Pakistan”.This project aims to identify agronomic factors limiting the productivity and profitability of lentils and chickpeas , evaluate possible solutions to Increased production and value addition in cereal cropping system, and to access to quality seed from better adapted varieties, helping to improve the ability of farmers to maintain and further improve their farming systems.The Vice Chancellor SAU Prof. Dr. Mujeeb-u-ddin Memon emphasized the Natural Resource Management practices at gross root level in identification of the research priorities for knowledge-based economy of the country that will ultimately be helpful for further conservation and in addressing the current challenges including climate change, food security, poverty and water security of the country.
