UNICEF - Flood Emergency Education Responce School in A Box

UNICEF

Donor: United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF)

Duration: 12 October 2010 – 12 December 2011

Districts: (Sukkur), (Ghotki), (Jacobabad).

Major Activities:

The objective of the project was to help and re-establish learning as the first step towards the restoration of normal schooling following an emergency.
SRSO established 100 Temporary Learning Centers for Children in IDP Camp & Shelter in Sukkur, Ghotki & Jacobabad Districts.
At the TLCs, children had the opportunity to learn in a protected environment. Caregivers not only taught the basic primary-school subjects through semi-structured learning but also encouraged artistic expression and recreation, which helped 5,009 children deal with the stress they were under.
Each site was supplied with a ‘School-in-a-Box‘ kit that provided essential teaching and learning materials for children in an emergency setting. Each ‘School-in-a-Box’ kit was equipped with small emergency school bags containing books, pencils, sharpeners, erasers, and a chalkboard.
