Sindh Water and Agriculture Transformation (SWAT) Project Donor/s: The World Bank Partner/s: Sindh Irrigation & Drainage Authority (SIDA) Duration: March 2024 to February, 2025 Covering District/s: (Hyderabad), (Tando Muhammad Khan), & (Badin). Project Objective/s: Improve the living conditions of PAPs by reconstructing and retrofitting houses to adhere to climate-resilient standards and respecting the Corridor of Impact (COI). Enhance the income generation capacity and improve the livelihoods of PAPs through skill development and market linkages. Ensure adherence to SRMP guidelines and COI requirements throughout project implementation. Major Activities The Akram Wah Canal rehabilitation project has affected the lives of approximately 1246 Project Affected People (PAPs) residing along the canal. This project aims to address the challenges faced by these individuals and communities by providing support in house reconstruction, livelihood development, and skill enhancement. SRSO has entered into a contract agreement and initiated the first process of hiring staff and also developed the questionnaire for assessment basis. This project aims to address the challenges faced by these individuals and communities by providing comprehensive support in two key areas: House reconstruction and retrofitting: Addressing the need for safe and climate-resilient housing for affected families, adhering to SRMP guidelines, and respecting the Corridor of Impact (COI). Livelihood and skill development: Enhancing the income generation capacity and improving livelihoods of PAPs through skill development programs aligned with local market needs. Back
