Sindh Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah inaugurated the 7th Sartyoon Sang Crafts Exhibition organized by Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) in collaboration with the Sindh Government and its partners at the Ocean Mall Clifton Karachi from 10 to 12 January 2020, displaying work of around 3,545 women artisans from the different districts of Sindh with aim to provide market linkages to rural women and artisans.
The Minister appreciated the endeavors of Sindh Rural Support Organizations for poor communities and expects in the future to keep such spirit for rural communities of Sindh. Speaking to the media on the occasion, he said that the Sindh government was concerned about giving skilled women of Sindh access to the international market through e-commerce. Various steps have been taken to empower women.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of SRSO, Muhammad Dittal Kalhoro said that the event’s objective was to facilitate better incomes for women artisans of rural Sindh. “We have trained more than 15,000 women from some of the most underdeveloped regions of Jacobabad, Kandhkot-Kashmore, Shikarpur, Ghotki, Kambar-Shahdadkot, Khairpur, and Sukkur to help these women gain maximum monetary benefit from their skills, they have incorporated urban trends into their work.
Besides citizens, some foreign guests visited the festival and took a keen interest in handmade home products, Apparel, furniture, decorating pieces, pure leather handbags, bedsheets, basketry, and other cultural items.
